Abstract
We appreciated the cost-effective analysis (CEA) by Malhotra et al of various diagnostic strategies for patients who present with thunderclap headache1. There is a variety of approaches that emergency assume in working up patients for potential aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and a cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) can encourage providers to pursue an efficient strategy. The authors analyze the effectiveness of three diagnostic approaches towards patients with thunderclap headache who have a negative head CT: observation, lumbar puncture (LP), or computed tomography angiography (CTA).
