Telephone Call Follow-up: A Missed Educational Opportunity

Abstract

He was a previously healthy middle-aged male who recently experienced his first emergency department visit, one he recounted may be his last. As I listened attentively at the end of the phone line, I cringed as he described in vivid detail his recent experience. He presented with sudden-onset back pain after a lifting injury at work. He asked to remain in a stretcher as his pain was less in the supine position.3
